The Wind Point Lighthouse at Sunrise
Everything seemed to be against me getting to the lighthouse this morning. Out late every night to shoot the rolling storms over landmarks in the city, the morning I am set to leave I over sleep the alarm by half an hour. I rush to shower and get dressed, packed my suitcase quickly and checked out of the hotel. On the road racing from Milwaukee to Racine, Wisconsin praying I would get to the lighthouse before sunrise. The rain pouring as I drove, my speed severely limited by all the water on the road. As the rain slacked off, I began regaining hope that I would make it in time that is until an old farm truck pulled out onto the small country road. Down to 35 mph hour for mile after mile, I gave up on making it to Wind Point before sunrise. Making the last turn down the long and winding road to the lighthouse as I began approaching the golf course I could see the tower and the sky miraculously began to change, the stormy skies becoming a mix of reds and oranges as the sun rose. Slamming on the brakes and pulling off the road, I knew I did not have much time taking a few shots as I sprinted across the greens. Gone before I knew it as I turned around to go back to my car, a huge and colorful rainbow could be seen from the lake all the way over the golf course. All of the delays I had encountered, meant to slow me down so I would not miss witnessing the most spectacular sunrise I have ever seen at a lighthouse!
