Beloved local surfer Colin Wagschal, 32, died when he was thrown from his truck while traveling home on Encinitas Boulevard. The day before, hundreds of surfers, friends and family members had shown up on these shores to honor one of North County's most cheerful and generous surfers. Although the beach was empty when we arrived, as we were leaving a fellow surfer arrived to pay his respects at the beachside Memorial in Colin's honor.
