After an all night bus trip we arrived in New York City at 5 am. No snow but daytime temps hovered in the 30's. Spending the day seeing the city, by the time night had fallen we were cold and exhausted but ready to start our evening shooting. Our tickets for the new 911 Memorial were for 5:30 pm. It was 5 pm and we were on the other side of town, after 20 minutes trying to hail a taxi we decided to take one of the larger unmarked cars for hire. $40.00 and a wild ride across the city we arrived at the Memorial. The entrance like that of a major airport, everything went through a scanner including us. Now the challenges would begin. First going to a side of the Memorial where all the people were not at, second having a lens wide enough to get everything in, and third tripods were not allowed. Talking to a guard I was told that they had given up enforcing the "no tripod" rule, I found the 10-22 mm was wide enough to get in the entire scenein and where I was at there was no people. There is no eerier feeling than being at the Memorial. listening to the falls surrounding the hole where one of the twin towers once stood and seeing all the names of those lost lit up on the side rails. You get an incredible sense of awe and sadness all at the same time.
